The Ford Explorer Base Trim

The base trim level of the Ford Explorer comes standard with a 3.5L V6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with a 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission. Explorer XLT: Advanced Safety

The XLT is the first Ford Explorer trim level that makes the Ford Safe & Smart™ Package available. This includes high-tech safety systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, which automatically adjusts your cruising speed to a safe following distance when you approach slower-moving traffic on the highway.

This package also includes BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System), which alerts you to cars in your side blind spots and rain-sensing windshield wipers that automatically adjust to the rate of rainfall on your windshield.

You can keep your key in your pocket with this trim, as it makes push-button start and Intelligent Access standard.

Limited Trim: Infotainment Upgrades

The Limited Ford Explorer trim is the first to come standard with the 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 engine. It's also the first trim level that makes the SYNC® 3 system standard. This system comes with an 8-inch color touchscreen in the center stack. It also includes Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ which allow you to fully integrate your phone's music, phone calls, texting, and navigation with your infotainment system.

This upgrade also comes with the SYNC® Connect embedded 4G LTE modem with Wi-Fi hotspot compatibility. With this feature, you can access navigation or stream internet radio without worrying as much about data limits.

Ford Explorer Sport

The Ford Explorer Sport rolls out a whole new engine option: The 3.6L EcoBoost® V6 delivers 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with Intelligent 4WD and the Terrain Management System™ for advanced handling capabilities whether off-road or on the track.

The Terrain Management System™ lets you choose between four different drive modes (Normal, Mud/Rut, Sand, Snow/Gravel/Grass) to enhance your performance based on the challenges you face.

This trim also comes standard with the Class III Trailer Tow Package that allows you to tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.  

Platinum Trim Level

The Platinum Ford Explorer trim level comes with all the bells and whistles. It makes every feature in the Ford Safe & Smart™ Package standard, including the Lane Keeping System and Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support.

Enhanced Active Park Assist also comes standard on this trim level. This system helps you locate an available parallel or perpendicular parking space and then steers you into place. Simply follow the prompts to brake, shift, and accelerate, and let your Explorer do the rest.

For an even more comfortable ride, heated and cooled front seats are standard. You can also turn up the volume on your road trip playlist with the standard 500-Watt Audio System from Sony® with Clear Phase™ and Live Acoustics™ technology.
