Explorer offers adaptable options to suit your needs, whether you want to
maximize fuel efficiency with the standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) or increase
grip and control with available intelligent four-wheel drive (4WD).
For
off-road enthusiasts, the 2023 Explorer Timberline® model includes features
such as all-terrain tires, a 3.58 TORSEN® limited-slip rear axle, steel
underbody plates, and an 8.66-inch ground clearance.
Despite its power, the Ford Explorer maintains reasonable gas mileage
for a midsize SUV.

Towing
The Ford Explorer 2023 model's towing capability might vary depending on
the trim level and engine you choose. With the appropriate powertrain and the
optional Class IV Trailer Tow Package, available with the 2.5L, 3.0L EcoBoost turbocharged V6 engine, and 3.3L hybrid engine, the Ford Explorer can provide a maximum towing
capability of up to 5,600 lbs.
